Every fridge is a battery. Tempa makes it one, safely.
Monitoring and compliance today, outage intelligence for estates, and from 2027 paid flexibility from the same sensors.
The product is the picture.
This is the real dashboard, running on a simulated estate: a kitchen, a GP surgery and a housing block, fed by a virtual sensor fleet through the same webhook path as live hardware.
Compliance first. Resilience next. Energy throughout.
Cold chain compliance
Continuous temperature logging for fridges, freezers, cold rooms and vaccine fridges. Alerts that escalate until someone acts. An append-only record and HACCP reports that stand up to an EHO, CQC or MHRA inspection.

Know which critical loads are protected, which are not, and how long the rest have. A thermal model per cabinet, time to excursion on every tile, and an outage board that tells your team what to protect first.

Per-asset electricity from current clamps or meters, overcooling detection, compressor-health signatures and door-discipline insights, priced at your tariff. Savings are shown against each asset’s own baseline and labelled as estimates.

Every cold asset gets a thermal model fitted from its own history: how fast it warms towards the room when cooling stops. From that, Tempa estimates minutes to excursion for every cabinet, continuously. When clamps read zero, several sensors go quiet together, or someone declares an outage, the site switches to an outage board: assets ranked by time left, value at risk, and a plain action list — move stock from here to there, restore this circuit first.
Shown with simulated data. Time-to-excursion figures are modelled estimates with a stated confidence.
Monitoring that pays for itself in electricity.
Most commercial cabinets are run colder than they need to be. Tempa shows each asset’s electricity next to its temperature record, finds overcooling, door waste and failing compressors, and prices the saving at your tariff.
- · Current clamps on each circuit, or a kWh meter where true consumption matters
- · Hourly and daily energy, cost by tariff period, baseline per asset
- · Insights: overcooling, door discipline, compressor duty and short-cycling, defrost patterns
- · Monthly energy report in pounds
A worked example
modelled example- Site
- 12 cabinets
- Assumed consumption
- 1,200 kWh per cabinet per yearapproximate
- Finding
- Cabinets held 2 °C below the needed minimum
- Saving per °C
- 2–3 % of compressor energyindustry guidance, approximate
- Tariff
- 27.5 p/kWh
- Estimated saving
- 576–864 kWh/yr · £158–£238/yr
This is a modelled example, not a customer result. Real savings depend on the cabinets, their setpoints, door use and your tariff; Tempa reports them against each asset’s own measured baseline and labels every figure as an estimate.
An audit-grade record, and the report in three clicks.
Readings are never edited or deleted — corrections are new rows. Alerts carry who acknowledged, when, and what they did about it. The HACCP daily and weekly records, the monthly compliance summary and the medicines-storage view are generated from that record with a SHA-256 fingerprint on every PDF.
- · Deviation log with corrective action and sign-off line
- · Gaps in the record shown as gaps, with the device’s recovered datalog filling them where it can
- · Calibration certificate attached to the measuring point and referenced by each reading
- · Scheduled delivery to the people who need it, daily to monthly

Sense, record, alert, optimise.
Installation takes minutes per fridge. No wiring, no IT project. One small gateway covers a building.
Sense
Battery sensors clip onto fridges, rooms, doors and circuits. Minutes per fridge, no wiring.
Record
Every reading lands in an append-only, UK-hosted record with the device’s own timestamp.
Alert
Rules with persistence and hysteresis; escalation by email, SMS and voice until acknowledged.
Optimise
Energy insights today; outage intelligence for estates; safe flexibility from 2027.
Off-the-shelf LoRaWAN sensors, pre-provisioned as Tempa kits.

“Tempa is at pilot stage: the platform runs end to end on simulated estates today, and the first real sites are being fitted with the hardware you see here. I would rather earn trust with a working system and honest numbers than with logos we have not earned yet.”
How accurate are the sensors?
The standard probe sensor (Dragino LHT65N with an external DS18B20 probe) is specified by its manufacturer at ±0.5 °C typical across the fridge and freezer range, with built-in temperature and humidity sensing on the unit. Calibration certificates can be attached to each measuring point and are referenced by every reading taken while they are in force.
How long do batteries last?
Multi-year on a 10-to-20-minute reporting interval, according to the manufacturers’ specifications for the sensors we deploy. Tempa tracks each battery and raises a low-battery insight well before replacement is needed.
What happens when the internet drops?
Gateways do not buffer. The sensors do: the LHT65N stores over 3,000 timestamped records and retransmits the ones that were not acknowledged once the network is back. Tempa stores them at the time they were measured and shows any remaining gap as a gap, never as a flat line.
Where is the data held?
In a UK (London) region database. Reports and certificates are stored in UK or EU object storage. See the security page for the full picture.
Who owns the data?
You do. Export any range as CSV or PDF at any time. We use anonymised, aggregated statistics to improve the models and will never sell or share your data.
Is this a shop?
No. Tempa is sold through pilots and quotes. You request a pilot, we agree scope and price, and the hardware arrives pre-provisioned.
Turn commercial refrigeration into the UK’s distributed cold battery.
Supermarket-scale refrigeration flexibility has been trialled in the UK before. Tempa’s bet is the long tail of small sites: LoRaWAN sensors, a cheap retrofit controller and a thermal model per asset make it safe and worthwhile at a pharmacy or a café. No flexibility revenue exists today; the data model and the safety limits are being built first.
